Trish Doan (a.k.a. Trisha Jai-Mee Doan), bassist for the Canadian metal band KITTIE, has died. She was only 31 years old.

The news of Doan’s passing was first revealed by KITTIE on the group’s official Facebook page. The band wrote: ”It is with immeasurable sadness that we share news of the passing of our sister and best friend Trish Doan.

”Finding the right words is tough. She was so bright and vibrant and talented and we loved her and still do. She was so much more than just a musician or member of the band. She was our blood, our sister and family. Finding our way without her will be challenging, like a ship without a lighthouse, and we are devastated.

”We ask that you please respect our privacy and her family’s privacy [...]

REDIGERA Prince Harry today said it shows “strength” to talk openly about mental health. The Prince, on a visit to the London Ambulance Service, said if those in tough jobs ‘in the thick of it’ aren’t talking about it, then other people won’t. “People are scared to talk about it, but they should be scared about not talking about it,” he said. “What you guys have to deal with everyday, you don’t know what you’re going to get. It’s strength to be able to talk about it.” He spoke out as he kicked off this year’s Time to Talk Day for the Heads Together charity mental health campaign. During his visit Prince Harry spoke to members of staff at London Ambulance Service who shared how the support of their colleagues has helped them overcome difficult times in their lives. ha1.jpgPrince Harry said people should not be scared to discuss their mental health (Reuters)He was told by 999 control room staff and ambulance crews about the importance of being able to talk to colleagues about how they were feeling and what challenges they have to cope with. Harry then joined staff in the service’s own Time to Talk Day event where he learned more about London Ambulance Service’s LINC network – a voluntary network that stands for ‘Listening, Informal, Non-judgemental, Confidential’. The London Ambulance Service, one of many workplaces around the UK committed to promoting mental wellbeing of the workforce and who run a Time to Talk Day event. It is part of the annual awareness day run by Time to Change aimed at getting the nation talking about mental health. The theme of this year’s Time to Talk Day is ‘conversations change lives’. Heads Together – a campaign to change the conversation on mental health – is spearheaded by The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry in partnership with eight leading mental health charities and three Founding Partners. Today they released a film showing how being open about mental health can help. In the film two friends and paramedics, Dan and Rich, talk about the life-changing conversation which helped Dan with a particularly difficult period with his mental health.
